Alison Simpson, Harpist

Alison Simpson is a well-known Bucks County harpist. Her repertoire is extensive and inclusive of all musical genres.

 

Alison performs on a gold concert harp. She graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a B.M. in Harp Performance and from Wheaton College with a B.A. in European History.

 

She spent thirteen summers at the Salzedo Summer Harp Colony studying with Alice Chalifoux. Alison is a free-lance professional harpist in the Tri-State area, performing with area symphonies and choral societies. She was a former solo performer with Young Audience of New Jersey and was a frequent entertainer on the Luxury Liner Queen Elizabeth 2.

 

She has performed in Carnegie Hall and the Philadelphia Academy of Music and has produced a CD called Harps Afire. Alison served three terms as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Harp Society and was co-chair for the 2004 National Harp Conference. She teaches at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ and maintains a private studio in Doylestown, PA.
